To date we have not received an acceptable offer for the business complete as a going concern. We have received some low offers which we have not accepted. We have also had interest expressed in some sections of the range. We have therefore decided to continue trading into 2008, but with reduced hours. We will only be offering a telephone ordering and advice service on WEDNESDAYS (9.30-1.00, 2.00-6.00) commencing on 9th January. Of course, mail, faxes and e-mails can be sent 24/7 as usual, but we will no longer be able to offer the fast turn round of orders we have been well known for.

Some kits are already no longer available as we have run out of some critical components and it would be uneconomic to order more for a short period of operation. This affects the 48ft LB&SCR Billinton carriage kits.

If we have still not received and accepted a reasonable offer by the early Spring we will almost certainly then sell all stock to exhaustion and break the range up for disposal.

BRANCHLINES BUSINESS FOR SALE AS OWNERS RETIRE

Andrew and Catherine Mullins have announced that they wish to sell their business and retire at the end of 2007, after the Warley exhibition at the N.E.C.

The Branchlines range is extensive covering import agencies for Mashima motors, Tenshodo motor bogies and motors, Canon motors, drive shafts, Darumaya motor bogies and the sole UK agency for Black Beetle motor bogies plus the range of wheels from the same source. Branchlines also has the widest range of gearbox kits of their own design plus the North Yard enclosed boxes and a range of flywheels, bearings and brass castings for loco builders. There are also cast and Dapol based loco chassis and detailing kits in 4mm scale, loco and coach kits for 7mm narrow gauge, loco, coach and wagon kits for 4mm narrow gauge (including the Isle of Man range), some 3mm kits and a huge range of etched brass kits for the Midland Railway, the Southern Railway, it’s constituents and some EMU’s.

Andrew and Catherine have earned their living from running Branchlines for nearly twenty years and would welcome contact from prospective purchasers who are interested in continuing the business in a similar way, serving 5,000 plus customers in the U.K. and World-wide.
