The EM Gauge Society and the Scalefour Society are pleased to present:

A very special day of finescale railway modelling incorporating the
    Chris Kedgley Memorial Skills Day

    Saturday 12th March 2016

Those of you with no interest in cricket need not fear that we are going to inflict upon you tales of the English summer and the sound of leather upon willow! We hit upon (sorry!) 101 Not Out because in 2016 the Scalefour Society will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and this year (2015) the EM Gauge Society is celebrating its 60th, so next year will be 61. So that gives us 101 years of finescale modelling and still going strong...

Planning for this landmark joint event is now complete. It won’t be a typical model railway experience; rather it’s going to focus - in a number of specific areas - on development of skills for finescale modelling. More than that, we aim to provide inspiration, learning and encouragement. And, of course, enjoyment and entertainment!

Located just off junction 9 on the M60 near to the Trafford Centre.

This year we are back at Davyhulme for one year. The centre has taken a booking on this weekend for subsequent years which regretably will mean a change of venue for 2017. There will be a free vintage bus service from Urmston Station to and from the venue.

Refreshments are available on site or at various venues in the Trafford Centre also at a pub across the road that serves food. Members entry fee will be £7 with a concession rate for families and children.Tickets are valid for both days.

The EM Gauge Society aims to bring to the attention of OO modeller the fact that modelling in EM is no more difficult than in OO. Conversion of rolling stock is a simple job with steam out line being a little more time consuming. Joining the Society brings access to a large manual explaining and showing how it is done along with access to the EMGS Trade Officer who is able to supply items you may need all stocked at the same place and at reasonable prices.

The venue has free parking for over 200 cars with public transport passing the entrance to the centre.

The 5th Chris Kedgley Memorial Skills Day

    Please note

Disabled access: There is a ramp for wheelchairs giving access to the ground floor of the museum. However, the Skills Day event is taking place on the upper floor and we very much regret that the museum website (http://www.krm.org.uk/) states there is, unfortunately, no disabled access to the upper floor, on the advice of the Fire Officer.

The family of Chris Kedgley, the former Chairman of the EM Gauge Society (and active member of the Scalefour Society) who passed away in June 2013, “gifted” his models and un-built kits to the EMGS.  Chris was a highly skilled modeller who as well as building also painted and lined his models.

With the proceeds of sale from these models now exceeding well over £5,000 the EMGS Board have decided to hold a fifth “Skills Day” (the first in the Midlands) in his memory.

The event will feature over a dozen experienced modellers demonstrating a wide range of skills, plus “Kitedale” an ex L&Y P4 layout presented by Ray Hodson and “Trewithick” a GWR EM layout presented by Graeme Vickery. Both layouts will be presented “sans drapes”

    Date: Sat March 10th 2018
